The exam for brown belt (1st kyu) is conducted within the club by examiners from Judo Academie Amsterdam. For the brown belt exam, in addition to your own work (consisting of standing and ground techniques), you must also demonstrate part of a kata. For the brown belt exam, you may choose from:

- the 1st series of the Katame-no-kata or;
- the first 4 techniques from the Go-no-sen-no-kata
If you are competition judoka, different rules apply. Together with your competitive trainer, we will work on your own piece of work of your specialties as a competitive judoka. You are exempt from the kata part.
